We are a team of puzzle designers based out of Perth, Western Australia. Our backgrounds are in graphic design, user experience, and product management and we specialise in creating a sense of fun and engagement through mystery and intrigue.
Being lovers of puzzles and great stories, we knew we wanted to introduce mysterious puzzle-based experiences to more people. We started by taking the common everyday birthday card and turning it into a fun and challenging escape room experience.

Our Beginnings
Our founder, Kieran Flaherty, started producing puzzle cards after growing frustrated with greeting cards as a thing. Some greeting or birthday cards can be full of lovely sentiments and heartfelt expressions, but most are as boring as the widening of a hole.
He experimented with a new sort of card; one where the recipient wouldn’t get their birthday gift until they solved a puzzle. After seven years of making puzzle cards for our own friends’ and families’ birthdays, we filled out some boring forms and officially opened shop in May 2020.
Our Values
Mystery - We are avid fans of twisting narrative plots, magic, and intrigue. It makes the world more interesting and it forms the basis of our mission.
Quality - It takes 70-100 hours to put together one of our cards. Our unpaid interns don’t go home for the day until each one has been tested thoroughly. All our cards are hand-drawn and all our puzzles are solvable.
Humour - Surprise and delight are our backbone. Our chiropractor doesn’t know what to make of it.
Innovation - Originality is what makes it fun for us to put puzzles together. We aim to be pushing the envelope more than the biggest bully at a school for envelopes.
Sustainability - Everything we create we attempt to make from recyclable materials. Everything else is either recyclable or decomposable. We now no longer use asbestos in our envelope glue.
